Exchange rates
Calculate.lk publishes no exchange rates. Rates move daily, and a stale rate baked into a calculator would produce a confidently wrong answer. The foreign income calculator asks you for the rate your bank actually applied on the date the money arrived — which is also the rate that matters for tax purposes.

How these rates are kept current
Rates live in one configuration file rather than being written into individual calculators, so a change to Sri Lankan tax law is a single edit that flows through every page at once. Each record carries its own effective dates and source list, and previous years are kept rather than overwritten so that a calculation for an earlier year of assessment stays reproducible.
Where the published rules leave genuine room for interpretation — for example whether an employee’s EPF contribution reduces taxable employment income — we do not pick an answer silently. The assumption is stated on the calculator page, and wherever it materially changes the result, it is exposed as a control you can switch.
Found something out of date? Tax rules change, and this page carries the date each rate was last checked. Always confirm against the Inland Revenue Department before relying on a figure for filing or planning.
